<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="text-indent: -0.25in; text-align: justify;"><br />Human Rights Education Program, underway since 1995, has furnished a critical mass of trained human rights activists in these provinces. As a sequel to Human Rights Education Program, DCHD has initiated Human Rights Community Awareness Program in NWFP and Sindh, employing HREP graduates in creating human rights awareness and triggering social debate around HR themes in selected villages through a set of diffusive activities.<br /><br />The selected graduates of Human Rights Education Program, teamed up in pairs, select rural communities in their areas in accordance with the given criteria. A series of 4 quarterly community meetings, revolving around following program themes, in each of the selected communities, constitutes the principal program activity:</p>

<li>Rights of the Child</li>
<li>Citizens' Rights</li>
</ul>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The extension teams help establish human tights committees of concerned community members before withdrawing from the select communities. These committees will ensure the continuity of the human rights activism in the respective communities.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">DCHD staff steers, streamlines and supervises the program activities through two provincial liaison established in Peshawar &amp; shahdadkot. DCHD program staff also prepares primary-level resource material to streamline program activities besides conducting on-the-stop monitoring visits.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The program, currently undertaken in partnership with IC-SNPO, is underway in 102 villages of Sindh and NWFP. DCHD envisages extending program activities to over 250 villages by the end of year 2000.</p>
